Cornwall LaFayette

Cornwall LaFayette is the swamp’s chosen light — a silent, steady figure the lanterns pulled in long before anyone understood why. The bog welcomed him outright, opening paths no outsider had ever crossed, and Ricky recognized that acceptance immediately. From that moment on, Cornwall became the swamp’s protector, the one who keeps the lantern routes alive, the walkways stable, and the swampkin close enough to safety that the darkness doesn’t swallow them whole.

Cornwall works constantly, even when no one’s around to see it. He hosts the lantern feasts, the midnight bog walks, the mask‑voting parties, and every strange gathering the swamp seems to demand. He reacts fast, moves with purpose, and guides people with gestures instead of words. it’s a language the swamp understands perfectly.

Cornwall is the Swamp’s light and only permanent resident.

Ricky Lafayette

Ricky LaFayette is the bog’s own son. tall, silent, and built from the same darkness he walKs through without hesitation. A gator‑wrestling madman with a calm, unblinking stare, Ricky moves through the swamp like something it made for its own purposes. He isn’t fond of most people.

Ricky’s loyalty Ran deep, even if his patience doesn’t. He keeps the swamp’s balance in ways no one else could until cornwall. His animals, especially his gators, are his pride and his responsibility. he tends to them with a quiet devotion that surprises anyone who’s ever seen him tear through the bayou like a storm. And everyone in the swamp knows the rule: stay within Cornwall’s lantern‑light and Ricky won’t touch you. Step outside it, and you’re wandering into the dark he calls home.

Ricky is the swamp’s shadow.

A fantasy illustration of a forest scene titled 'The Verdant Warden'. A woman with long blonde hair, wearing a green leafy dress and a wooden mask with mushrooms and plants, is holding a bowl of glowing small mushrooms. In the background, there are plants, jars, and a lantern hanging, with a heron near a pond surrounded by lily pads.

Dymora

Dymora is the Garden Warden of the LaFayette swamp. a calm, masked figure who tends the bog’s living things with a patience no outsider has ever earned. She doesn’t speak to newcomers, doesn’t acknowledge them, doesn’t even look their way, but among swampkin she’s warm, social, and unmistakably present. Her hands kept the garden thriving, her rituals kept Ricky’s wooden mask washed in whiskey or bourbon, and her quiet routines held parts of the swamp together that no one else fully understands.

Most days she would be in the garden, moving with a steady rhythm that feels older than the bog itself. Other nights she wanders the darkness beside Ricky, matching his silence step for step, keeping him grounded in ways only she could. She isn’t a leader, but she is essential. The Garden Warden is a constant force who maintains the swamp’s pulse while Cornwall and Ricky keep its borders intact. Dymora doesn’t seek attention, doesn’t demand respect, and doesn’t explain her work. The swamp simply runs better when she is there.

Cyrus Floo

Cyrus Floo is the vanishing swampkin. He is an athletic, adrenaline‑driven figure who stalks passerbys in the dark with nothing visible but the pulsing heartbeat on his mask. He doesn’t enforce order or protect the swamp out of duty; he does it for the thrill, the chase, the rush that kept him moving. Cyrus targeted individuals, studying them from the shadows until he decides whether they’re worth his attention. Most swampkin only know one rule: if the mask shows a flatline, Cyrus has vanished. His costume will still be standing exactly where he left it, upright and empty, a perfect decoy that means he’s already slipped into the darkness to hunt someone else.

He lives a lavish life outside the bog, but he prefers to spend his days and nights inside it, running on competition, instinct, and the constant search for meaning he hasn’t found anywhere else. He doesn’t sleep in the swamp, but he never feels far from it. Unlike Ricky, Cyrus doesn’t terrorize everyone who steps into the bayou unprotected. no, he chooses his targets with precision, driven by curiosity and the thrill of pursuit. When Cornwall’s lantern‑light is present, Cyrus respects it. When it isn’t, he becomes the swamp’s most unpredictable presence.

Cyrus is the bog’s disappearing act, its heartbeat in the dark, and one of the strangest forces that keep the LaFayette swamp alive through sheer momentum and desire.

Worm

Worm is the giant masked invertebrate of the LaFayette swamp. a towering, gentle creature who appears rarely but instantly becomes the center of whatever gathering she slithers into. She doesn’t speak, but she’s one of the most sociable swampkin, constantly interacting through soft nudges, slow coils, and affectionate wraps that make her feel like a living blanket more than a threat. Swampkin adore her, and she adores them right back.

She gravitates toward Dymora and DiabloGoblo whenever she surfaces, settling beside them with a calm, content presence that never needs explanation. Worm isn’t protective or authoritative; she’s simply there because everyone enjoys having her around. She needs help with almost everything; navigating paths, getting unstuck, understanding what’s happening. when it comes to ghosts though, she is unmatched. Ghosts listen to her, follow her, and behave for her in ways they won’t for anyone else.

When strangers wander too close, Worm doesn’t act out of danger or instinct. She just gently coiled around them, holding them in place until Ricky or Cyrus eventually show up. It’s not a threat, it’s just Worm being Worm, doing what she thinks is helpful.

Worm is friendly, affectionate, and strangely essential. She is a massive, masked presence whose ghost‑handling skills and warm interactions make her one of the swamp’s most beloved oddities.

Candy Man

Candy Man stood out in the LaFayette swamp the moment he appeared — a charismatic, silent figure dressed in a pristine black‑and‑blue three‑piece suit, long luscious hair framing the expressionless mask he never removes. His briefcases, chained to his wrist, clatter softly with every step, filled with tools, documents, and oddities only he understands. He carries himself with a pep in his step, the most joyful stride of any swampkin, as if the bog itself energized him.

He served as the swamp’s legal mind, handling disputes, loopholes, and the strange bureaucratic rituals that keep the bog functioning. Outsiders trusted him more than anyone else in the swamp. he’s approachable, magnetic, and somehow makes newcomers feel like they haven’t wandered into danger. Candy Man usually discussed serious matters only with Cornwall, but he spent much of his time with Worm, matching her sociable nature with his own lively presence.

Behind the professionalism, Candy Man had an artistic streak. He doodled constantly on his legal papers . documents filled with swirling shapes, strange symbols, half‑formed characters and every once in a while, one of those sketches becomes a genuine work of art. Most of them went unfinished, abandoned mid‑stroke as he jumps to the next idea, leaving trails of half‑completed creativity across every document he touches.

diablogoblo

DiabloGoblo is the devil rooster of the LaFayette swamp. he is a sharp‑minded, swaggering little menace who arrived without warning and immediately made himself at home. Some swampkin insist he’s only visiting, others swear he’s here for good, but the Garden Warden, Cyrus, and Worm treat him like he’s always belonged. Their quiet sponsorship keeps him wandering freely through the bog, strutting across branches and boardwalks with the confidence of something far larger than a rooster.

He’s a trickster by nature, delighting in outsmarting wanderers and leading them down paths they never meant to take. Sometimes his mischief sends outsiders straight into Ricky’s darkness or Cyrus’s hunting grounds, not out of cruelty but out of pure chaotic curiosity. DiabloGoblo thrives on confusion, cleverness, and the thrill of proving he’s the smartest creature in the swamp. He watches everything with bright, devilish eyes, waiting for the next person to underestimate him.

a wandering spark of trouble that keeps the LaFayette swamp alive, unpredictable, and very much awake.
